It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce after a very short illness, the passing of John (Hans -Jüergen) Herzberg, born aboard the SS Gotenland ship at sea. After becoming a Police Officer, he made the life-changing decision to move to Canada in 1964. John found his passion in the automotive industry and became a respected Service Manager for St. James Volkswagen, eventually becoming a part owner in the business. Throughout his career, he was committed to providing top-notch service to his customers. He was kind, caring, and very knowledgeable, and loved to always talk about cars.

In May 1982, John married Mary Woodward. He embraced his role as a stepfather and Opa with love and dedication. His family meant everything to him. John will be deeply missed by his loving wife Mary, children, Jacquie (Leigh) Norma, and Kerstin, as well as his grandchildren, Samantha, Nicollette (Kyle), Brad, John "Joobie" (Zoe), and great-grandchildren, Mila and Giana. He will also be missed by his sisters-in-law, Loni and Flora.

John was predeceased by his father Ernst, mother Ida, sister Christel, and brothers Kurt and George.

A funeral service will be held on February 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects to a remarkable man who touched the lives of many.
